Professor Stark received her BS from Cornell University (1998), and MA and PhD from Princeton (2006).

She studies biomedicine and the human sciences since World War II. She is the author of Behind Closed Doors: IRBs and the Making of Ethical Research. Her current book project looks at clinical medicine in the 1950s and 1960s from the perspectives of people who served as experimental subjects. Both projects are part of an effort to understand changes in moral sensibilities and the practice of judgment.
